Memorial Hall Leek Show

Les Young knows his onions! He won the first prize for the best leeks in the show, to no one’s surprise, and also carried off the trophy for the best onions. He needed Margaret to help him hold the trophies and the produce.
Dick Dodsworth, who died in July, was sadly missed but he did win one prize for the best mixed blooms due to the care of David Morris who watered his garden this summer and Penny Morris who picked and arranged the different flowers. The vegetables and flowers were judged, the prizes awarded and then followed a soup and ham sandwich supper. Now replete, the members and friends turned their attention to a quiz, the produce was auctioned and the evening concluded by a well-stocked raffle.
